Join author Jane Howard for the launch of her new essay collection, Hey Nature Lady, on Sunday, October 19, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Minglement (19529 Vashon Hwy SW). The event will feature an introduction by local artist and author Sally Fox.

Howard—an educator, naturalist guide, artist, mother, entrepreneur, and adventurer—is known for her love of island life, including her time on Vashon. In Hey Nature Lady, she shares 13 compelling personal stories designed to inspire readers of all ages to embrace creativity, face challenges with courage, and deepen their connection to the natural world. From tracking alligator nests in the Okefenokee Swamp to finding unexpected wisdom in a graffiti-marked forest, and witnessing the raw force of Hawaiian lava, each essay offers a unique perspective on resilience, wonder, and the beauty of the earth.
