Wry humor, virtuoso harmonica, and soulful country-blues: Orville Johnson and Mark Graham are the Kings of Mongrel Folk. Graham—of Kevin Burke’s Open House—pairs fleet harmonica and woody clarinet with sardonic cult classics like “I Can See Your Aura and It’s Ugly” and “Zen Gospel Singing,” covered by the Austin Lounge Lizards, Bryan Bowers, and the Limelighters. Johnson, a Seattle “player’s player,” adds masterful guitar/dobro and honeyed vocals heard on 200+ recordings. Together they’ve played Newport Folk, SXSW, London’s Festival Hall, Bumbershoot, and NW Folklife.
