First-Ever Vashon Artist Residency Alumni Exhibition
"Ignited by Vashon: Art from Vashon Artist Residency" celebrates the work of 31 artists from across the U.S. and Europe. The exhibition showcases how time on Vashon has shaped and inspired each artist’s creative practice.

Founded in May 2021 by Cathy Sarkowsky, during the ups and downs of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vashon Artist Residency has quickly become a highly recognized program, attracting artists nationally and internationally. The residency offers creatives the gift of time, space, and connection in the natural beauty of Vashon Island.
The exhibition invites local residents to see their beloved island through fresh eyes while offering visitors a deeper understanding of its unique spirit and influence.

The conversation will explore their work, creative process, and the inspirations they discovered through residency life. Hear why artists choose Vashon, what the island sparked in their practice, and how residencies nurture artistic growth.
