Making Meaning: A Poetry Writing Workshop

Vashon Island artists and poets Alex Echevarria, Sandra Noel and Margaret Roncone will be our guides for this one day poetry workshop February 21, 10 AM to 4 PM at the Puget Sound Zen Center on Vashon Island.
Alex Echevarria is a nationally honored teacher of Asian studies. During the morning session, Alex will introduce us to the poetry of several female poets from Japan’s Heian Period, followed by a playful renga-style poetry-writing session.
Margaret Roncone, the current Vashon Poet Laureate, and Sandra Noel, a Vashon environmental artist and poet, will continue the poetry exploration during the afternoon session. At the end of the day, participants will have had the opportunity to write and make meaning through poetry.
