Some homecomings are quiet. This one comes with harmonies. On Friday, August 7th from 7–9 pm, Honey of the Heart takes the stage at Snapdragon's Black Cat Cabaret — and for vocalist, songwriter, and co-founder Maren Metke, this one is personal. Vashon Island is where she comes from, and returning to share her music with the community that shaped her makes this an evening unlike any other on the tour calendar.
Maren and her musical partner Justin Ancheta have spent years bringing their signature blend of folk, soul, world rhythms, and soaring vocal harmonies to stages alongside the likes of Ayla Nereo, Rising Appalachia, Taj Mahal, and Joan Baez — artists who, like Honey of the Heart, believe that music is medicine and community is everything. Now they're bringing all of that hard-won magic back to the island, to one of Vashon's most cherished gathering spaces — a stage built for exactly this kind of music, connection, and all-ages celebration.
