Vashon’s Own Oscar the Troll Returns

Vashon’s Troll, Oscar the Bird King, all his whacky troll fellows, and the stupid humans who bedevil them will reprise VRT’s original play about the fall and rise of the Bird King. With the original — and fanciful — script by Bryan Willis, directed by Charlotte Tiencken. The play will run for just one performance Sunday, August 2, 6pm at Open Space for Arts & Community. It’s perfect summer night picnic fare for the whole family. Admission is FREE, with donations cheerfully accepted.

This original play by Bryan Willis for Vashon Rep is becoming a summer tradition on the Island. The 2026 performance will mark the third annual production of the play, Oscar’s Journey, the Fall and Rise of the Bird King.

Each year’s production has brought different actors to some of the characters, fresh sets and delightful costume variations by costume designer Jennifer Mathews. This year, Leo Watson revives his role as Oscar with some fresh faces and returning characters to provide the action.

The Play is great for kids with plenty of jokes for adults.
