Visions in Color: Contemporary Artwork from Oaxaca, Mexico brings the vibrant creative energy of Oaxaca to Vashon Center for the Arts. Guest curated by Fulgencio Lazo and Erin Fanning, the exhibition features more than thirty original works by accomplished contemporary Oaxacan artists.

Known as one of Mexico’s great centers of artistic creativity, Oaxaca is a place where Indigenous traditions, centuries-old craft practices, and contemporary expression intersect. The artists in "Visions in Color" bring distinct voices and approaches to their work while collectively reflecting the extraordinary depth, color, and vitality of Oaxaca’s artistic community.

The exhibition builds on VCA’s 2024 presentation of prints from Oaxaca, expanding this year to include original paintings on canvas alongside works in embroidery and mixed media.

Featured artists include Natividad Amador, Victor Cha’ca, Siboney García Santos, Fulgencio Lazo, Jorge López, Guillermo Pacheco, Ana Santos, Shinzaburo Takeda, Soledad Velasco, Jesús Mena, and Montserrat Steck.

Also join us October 24: 2pm for an Artist Panel discussion with exhibiting artists, moderated by guest curators Fulgencio Lazo and Erin Fanning.
